Went by everyone’s favourite meatball dispensary today on a hunch, and sure enough the Kajplats range is available at IKEA, despite not being up on their website yet!

I bought 4 of the brighter version of the standard bulbs, a fancier filament bulb, and also one of the Grillplats smart power plugs (also not on the website yet).

I’m guessing the bulbs and the power plugs arrived later than the other new Thread/Matter smart devices as they get connected to mains power rather than battery power or a USB power adapter, and so require compliance testing in terms of meeting Australian standards, etc.

I have set up the filament bulb so far, which took a bit more work than I’d expected - I ended up setting it up in Apple Home, putting it in pairing mode, so that I could then set it up in Home Assistant. It’s not an “any colour” bulb, but you can adjust the colour temperature and the brightness level. Finally meant I could get rid of the Wiz app and integration.

I’ll set up the other smart bulbs and report back in the next week or so :)
