I first tried out SteamOS on a PC of mine in December 2013, and back then I didn’t really think much of it. Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea of breaking the Windows hegemony in terms of gaming, but all I remember was feeling a little underwhelmed.

Last week, I installed version 3.8 on a Minisforum Neptune HX90G that I’ve had for almost 4 years, and it has certainly come a long way and then some!

It now resides in our living room and has given my whole family access to the majority of our Steam library. I do have to keep a keyboard and mouse handy, but it really does feel like a console 99% of the time, with the added advantage of it also being a Linux desktop behind the scenes.
